Panfish - Crappie - Red Eye Bass being the most
"sout after" fish which as been caught by anyone who has fished and this group
of fish presents a great day of fun on the water. They are among the easist
fish to catch but can be difficult with different weather conditions.

jigs , ants
, bumble bee spinner, flutter bugs, hair minnow flies, are among the great
baits for catching these panfish, crappie or red eye bass. They usually become
more active as the water warms. This differs with each sections of the
country. The sooner the water warms, the earlier they become active.
Panfish,
Crappie, Red Eye Bass are among the most aggressive for their size and are
excellent for getting the young started in the sport of fishing. In the
Tennessee area where the Red Eye Bass are popular, the Hair
Minnow is the top bait for that area.
Many of these
same lures large mouth and small mouth bass will attact as quickly as the
panfish, crappie or red eye bass so be ready to catch the larger fish.

Great Fishing Tips:
1)
Spawning time is a great time for catching these fish and this occurs when
water temperature is near 70 degrees. These fish are located in shallow water
and form round bare areas on the bottom near the shore line.
2)
Jigs are good lures for this type of fishing and can be fished in two ways -
working it along the bottom, with an up and down motion as it is retrieved or
by vertically bouncing the lure, from a boat, to catch those suspended fish.
Need to locate the fish first, to know which method to use.
3)
Spinner flies are an excellent bait for those moving fish, especially after
the spawning period. A slow retrieve over the weed beds or cover gives the
fish a great time to catch this type of lure.
4)
Small plugs, representing minnows are also an excellent lure for these type of
active fish. Minnows being a natural bait for these fish, allows this type of
lure to be used for those fish when they move to deeper waters.
