Trout Spinner Flies
Thus, Jerry has a large
variety of flies that can be used for spin casting or trolling,
but we are back to that old question, "Which one do we use?" Here are some
general recommendations based on what the fish may be feeding on at the time
you are fishing:
Early spring: After the ice is off the lake,
the natural hatches of damsel flies, dragon flies, caddis flies and may flies
begin to appear. At this time you want to use fly patterns that mimic the
natural feed such as nymph in natural colors.
Mid to late spring: As the natural hatches
begin to wind down, use flies with fluorescent color and include leech, wooly
bugger, flasher and patterns with red tails.

A
fly, with a short striking
treble hook attached to the tail in conjunction with an attractor,
a Colorado Spinner Blade used to catch
freshwater game fish trout..... crappie..... and panfish.
Larger
blades are used to better advantage in the early season
to give more flash to catch the fish's attention.
Size #2 is the
smaller, with #3 being larger. Even
a size #4 Indiana blade is perfect when added to the size 8 hook fly in deep
water or areas where there are large amounts of water.

To ensure good health and
standing with my fishing buddies I can only tell you that it was caught in
public water in a stream in Graham County, N.C.. I do not know exact weight
and measurements. I use ultra light spin tackle with 6lb. test. This proved to
be a long battle and for safety of the fish after the picture I immediately
resuscitated and released.
I hope the NC Div. of
Fisheries can assist in estimating weight and measurements from picture. I
commend you on the web site feature that allows us to build spinners with
different blades. The # 3 gold colorado gave me the action I was looking for
on this particular stream. I have passed your web site on to those friends
that I had to give so many of the spinners that I had just ordred for the
trip.
