The “natural look” soft bait can cover a given
area of water quickly and you can control the action of the natural look bait.
Use medium casts - make more casts - don't rush, let the natural look bait
drop freely at times. Make the natural look soft bait look like an injured
bait, in trouble, changing the rate of retrieve by raising and lowering the
fishing rod tip. “Natural Look” fishing lures have action, on the slowed drop,
or when retrieved at fast or slow fishing speeds, with the action needed, to
get the fish to strike.
Most fish shy away from sunlight and are most
active with dim conditions and on light rainy or overcast days. On sunny
summer days, fish generally feed best at daybreak and dusk, spending midday
along drop-offs close to feeding areas. On low cast days, that look like the
fish aren't around, try fishing right up close to reeds, lily pads, and cover.
A cooler wind during the night, can cause fish to hang tighter to cover.
Relatively warm nights, compared to the day, allows for good fishing. A small
light riffle is preferred on the surface of the water, for fishing close to
structures.
When light winds are coming in from the West or
the South West, fish usually feed the best. Watch wind direction changes,
relative to sudden temperature changes.
